Your Weekend on $20 (9/21- 9/23)

This section will highlight some great things you can do this weekend in Cincinnati with just a $20 bill.

  • Friday Night: Pick-up from Cilantro ($7)
    • Located on the corner of Clifton Ave and West McMillan, this Vietnamese Restaurant is the perfect cure to a cold, stormy night like tonight. Pick up a steaming bowl of Pho which includes all kinds of vegetables and noodles with your choice of meat in a savory broth. They also have tons of other great options; my personal favorite being the Stir-Fry Bowl. Call in your order then drive up to Clifton and pick it up in about 15 minutes.

  • Saturday: Picnic in Mt. Storm Park then Movie at the Esquire Theatre ($7)
    • Mt. Storm Park: This beautiful park lies on the former estate of Robert Bowler. It showcases a beautiful view of the Mill Creek Valley and includes many great places to have a picnic. While you're in the area, drive around Lafayette Ave to see some of the beautiful old homes located there.
    • 700 Lafayette Ave. Cincinnati, OH
    • Esquire Theatre: This independently run theater is located in the Gaslight district of Clifton. It often plays a wide range of films from foreign to documentaries to mainstream movies. Right now, my favorite movie playing is Moonrise Kingdom which has a showing at 7pm and is PG-13. Also, there is a special showing of the cult film, The Big Lebowski at 10:30pm on Saturday. It also includes special activities such as a costume contest and trivia event. Unfortunately, the film is rated R and only available to those 17 and over. (Sorry Freshmen!)
    • 320 Ludlow Ave. Cincinnati, OH

  • Sunday: Oktoberfest ($5)
    • This festival is one of the reasons why Cincinnati is such a great city. We hold the second largest Oktoberfest in the world! Come and enjoy all the different foods and music Downtown. From 4pm-9pm on Sunday, The Zinzinnati Bier Band will be playing (which includes a certain AP English teacher). Parking at Fountain Square is $5 and most of the food is $4-$5. All the music and other events are free!
    • Sunday, September 23rd
    • 11am-10pm
    • located on 5th St. from Vine to Sentinel.
Have a great weekend!
