$20 Date Night: Eli's Barbeque and Theodore M. Berry Friendship Park

Are you in the mood for some great music, a laid back atmosphere, and really, really, good food? Eli's Barbeque fulfills these wants perfectly. Located on Riverside Dr about 10 minutes east of Downtown, they serve fall-off-the-bone, smoked barbecue seven days a week for lunch and dinner. The inside of the restaurant contains an old record player where they play the classic hits from the 50's and 60's with all the glory of an old record. The food at Eli's is simple and awesome.
Their specialty is the pulled pork barbecue sandwich with their homemade sauce. Other options include hot dogs, turkey sandwiches, and their wonderful pork ribs. Sandwiches are $5, or you can choose two sides for an additional $3. The sides are part of what makes Eli's so great. Some of the options are macaroni and cheese, jalapeno cornbread, and baked beans. I highly recommend ordering the sides, they could even make a meal if you aren't a barbecue fan. The place is relatively small, with a counter near the back for ordering and seating up front. Outside, there are lots of picnic tables set up.
My favorite option is to drive 5 minutes down the road to the Theodore M. Berry Friendship Park. This is a relatively new park located on the banks of the Ohio with lots of beautiful scenery and walking paths. This, in my opinion, is one of the best places for a picnic in the city because of its great views and beautiful scenery. If the sun is shining outside and the weather is relatively warm, this date is one of the best. For just $16, you can enjoy a great meal while looking out over the river. Hope some of you try it out!
